About Kelly Singleton

The art of Kelly Singleton reflects her life-long love for wildlife and wild places. Whether this versatile artist chooses to use watercolor, oil, pastel, or acrylic, she strives to breathe life into her subjects.

Kelly was born and raised in Maryland. Art and nature have been her passions since she was a young child. She knew early on that she wanted to be an artist and she credits her parents for encouraging her desire to pursue art.

She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. She continues her training by attending workshops with master wildlife artists. Kelly cites numerous artists as influences, but Robert Bateman has been the most influential to her work.

Singleton's work is found in private collections across the United States and has been displayed in numerous national and international shows, including museum venues. Notable exhibitions include: Birds in Art, the Society of Animal Artists Art and the Animal and Small Works-Big Impressions, Gilcrease Museum's American Art in Miniature, The Kentucky National Wildlife Art Exhibit, Art for Conservation, Western Spirit Art Show & Sale, Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, and The Easton Waterfowl Festival.

Memberships include: the prestigious Society of Animal Artists (SAA), Artists for Conservation (AFC), and the International Guild of Realism. The SAA recognized Kelly's work for two consecutive years with the Evelyn & Peter Haller Distinguished Young Artist Award in 2006 and the Don Eckelberry Scholarship Award in 2007. Her work has also toured nationally with the SAA.

Kelly resides in Havre de Grace, MD near the Chesapeake Bay with her husband, Jimmy and one spoiled Boxer, Max.

.She draws inspiration for her art through travel and field research, as well as time spent outdoors hiking, kayaking, and mountain biking. Kelly hopes that through her art, she is able to convey the importance of preserving nature.
