The latest National Survey of Fishing, Hunting, and Wildlife-Associated Recreation Expenditures in Arkansas estimates 1.4 million Arkansas residents and nonresidents 16 years old and older fished, hunted, or wildlife watched in Arkansas. Of the total number of participants, 655 thousand fished, 354 thousand hunted, and 1.0 million participated in wildlifewatching activities, which includes observing, feeding, and photographing wildlife. The sum of anglers, hunters, and wildlife watchers exceeds the total number of participants in wildlife - related recreation because many individuals engaged in more than one wildlife-related activity.
Expenditures in Arkansas In 2006, state residents and nonresidents spent $2.1 billion on wildlife recreation in Arkansas. Of that total, trip-related expenditures were $569 million and equipment purchases totaled $1.1 billion. The remaining $434 million was spent on licenses, contributions, land ownership and leasing, and other items.
