Gun Dog Train and Shoot Workshop
Chattokee Lodge, Britannia Kennels and Tibea Gundogs from the UK hosted a succcessful gundog workshop June 23-24, 2012. The workshop was open to all sporting breeds and the ages of the dogs was 7 months to 10 years.
The information and the simple delivery of the information helped everyone achieve advanced results with their dogs, regardless of the dogs experience level. Each handler had opportunities to work "one on one" with the trainers and their dog as well as groups sessions in the field. "Every dog here improved and it was a great group to work with" said Robin Watson, owner and trainer of Tibea Gundogs in the UK.
Our workshops are designed to help you and your dog learn to communicate using body language, the whistle, hand signals, and voice cues so you work as partners. Our training system is based on "Operant Conditioning." OC is applied behavioral science which is used by the U S Navy Seals and many other agencies that demand dogs perform advanced skills on a regular basis. OC can help a dog achieve extraordinary skill sets in half the time of traditional training which is based on "forcing the dog to do it or else." Most hunters and gundog trainers still practice force training using shock collars and choke chains. This method works but is outdated and requires much more work with mediocre results. In this workshop, participants learned "how dogs learn," so force was not necessary.
Chattokee Lodge is planning another workshop in March 2013, please contact me for more information.
