Meet the Host

Rick Flippen
Flip, 57, developed a love for sporting dogs, duck hunting, and salt water fishing as a young boy while living along the southeast Texas Gulf coast. Flip Sr, being an avid outdoorsman served as Flip's mentor introducing Flip to the world of every kind of salt water sport fishing and all the wildlife in and around the salt water marshes. While the Flippen family always had dogs around the house, it was Flip's grandfather, Homer Hugh, that got Flip hooked on sporting dogs. Homer Hugh had a black Labrador retriever named Buster that Flip became very fond of. During Flip's teenage years he was chasing trout and redfish during the summer months and was hunting waterfowl during the winter. At 13 he had a 12 foot flat bottom which gave him the opportunity to become independent of his father, having to locate then harvest wildlife on his own. After high school, Flip was a successful 100 Ton Master Captain and Yacht Broker in south Florida for many years, then founded the 'Rinalli Boat Company.' In 2003, while living in Sarasota, Florida, Flip bought a Chocolate lab and began to pursue learning the art of canine training. After completing his tenure in the Yacht business his goal was to develop a simple training method for the everyday gundog handler and wingshooter. 2007, he made the decision to enroll at 'NO LIMITATIONS CANINE ACADEMY,' in Denver, Colorado. The academy is well known for producing top notch working dogs and handlers for the Dept of Defense and police departments around the world.

While at a field trial last year I witnessed a handler going ballistic when his dog was disqualified for breaking at the line. As he yanked the dog back to his truck he was yelling obscenities at the top of his lungs. What made the situation worse was that the poor gent had two dogs competing and the first dog took off to retrieve a fallen pheasant, and no lie, the dog grabbed the fallen bird and kept going until he ended up in a corn field about half a mile from our location.
